When Herbert Adolph Kuttler passed away at age 89 in January, he left behind a legacy highlighted by his Christian faith, solid work ethics, and endless devotion to his wife, nine children, and 21 grandchildren (who lovingly called him “Pop Pop”).

What a great summer in America! We’re not just squeezing in one big birthday party on July 4th – we’re stretching the “America 250” celebrations into August for a summer-long party to mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Everyone gets this message: Beach safety is the universal theme linking all patrols, the public, communities and emergency services.

Support retired K9 heroes on Aug. 1 with live music, food, drinks, raffles, and meet-and-greets with retired police and military working dogs. Proceeds benefit K9 Hurricane’s Heroes, helping cover veterinary expenses for retired K9s.

Six men whose vision and hard work helped shape the southern end of Sea Isle City more than seven decades ago were remembered with a commemorative plaque that was unveiled and dedicated June 24. More than 100 community members were on hand for the event at the 62nd Street shopping center.

By the time you read this, we will have already celebrated our country’s 250th birthday. There was so much fanfare surrounding the Fourth of July that it was hard not to feel proud of our nation. The weather was certainly hot enough, and the only real relief seemed to be at the beach.

“Free Elmer!” That was the chant heard around Sea Isle City over the July 4th weekend of 1995. Elmer is the 12-pound lobster shown here as held by 19-month-old Evan Foulke and his mother Carlie. Elmer was caught by Mickey Giordano, the commander of the Woodbine State Police barracks and a recreational diver.

SURPRISE! FIRE DEPARTMENT’S MASCOT A DALMATIAN

The Sea Isle City Fire Department has welcomed an adorable new unofficial member to its team. Rookie, a 3-month-old Dalmatian puppy owned by firefighter Ron Taylor, has quickly become the department’s beloved mascot while carrying on a tradition that dates back more than a century.
