All future lifeguards will learn from the best during Captain Thomas P. McCann Mascot School. Boys and girls ages 4-8, will enjoy two mornings of fun with members of the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol. Mascots will learn beach and water safety while also participating in races and games.

Blackthorn Rugby Sea Isle Ruggerfest

Hosted by Blackthorn Rugby Club, the Sea Isle Ruggerfest is back at Dealy Field! This decades-long tradition features men’s and women’s matches each with two 15-minutes halves. Whether you are a competitive player, or a casual player just looking for some exercise, the Ruggerfest will allow you to showcase your skills all day.

After two days learning from members of the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol, mascots will experience a series of races such as sprinting and relays as they take the skills learned in school and apply them to the friendly races that teach good sportsmanship. This is a longstanding tradition of the beach patrol and not to be missed.

Full Moon Beach Yoga

Enjoy Moon Salutations and Moonlight Meditation on the 5th Street beach as the full moon rises over the ocean. Online registration is required and opens two weeks before the event date. Teri O’Connor, ERYT-500, Reiki Master and owner of NJ Beach Yoga, guides the class with assistance from local yoga teachers. Donations collected benefit Metavivor, which supports a cure for stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer.

For Pete’s Sake Cornhole for Cancer

An endeavor of the For Pete’s Sake organization, Maryanne Pastry Shoppe will host its fifth annual Cornhole for Cancer fundraiser in memory of late family member, Peter R. Bossow Jr., a SIC lifeguard. The round-robin style cornhole tournament guarantees that each team will play four games. Registration is required and is open online. Join the event and help bring respite to families facing cancer.

Dave Farina Men’s Basketball Tournament

Beach Classic Men’s Street Hockey Tournament

Get ready to compete in this three-day street hockey tournament! Players will enjoy the classic winter sport with a beach flair. There will be varying levels of skill, as well as men’s and coed games, in a round-robin format. Whether you are a hockey player or simply looking for a fun way to exercise, this is a great opportunity.

Sandy Sprint 5K & Family Walk

The Sandy Sprint is hosted by the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation to spread the word about its mission and raise funds to advance research. The event includes a 5K Run, a 2-mile family fun walk, a survivor ceremony, and more. Race-day registration begins at 7:30am and the event will begin at 8:30am. There will be an after-party at the Oar House Pub.
1-Mile Ocean Swim

Test your physical and mental endurance during the 1-Mile Ocean Swim, hosted by the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol. Sign up online at sicbp.com. Pre-registration will close on July 17 at 11pm, but there will be on-site registration from 9-10:30am.
Hot Dog Day

The public is invited to attend this community event and enjoy hot dogs, sodas, chips, and other popular snacks for sale. Proceeds from the event benefit veterans and active-duty military members.

Seize the Wave

Seize the Wave is a surf instruction event made possible through the partnership of Epilepsy Services of New Jersey and Paul’s Purple Warriors. Open to 35 registered participants, this event offers the chance to experience guided surf lessons led by the experts at Heritage Surf Shop and Tass Home Remodeling. The session will begin with instruction on the beach before participants head into the ocean alongside experienced surfers.

Lifeguards in Training Program

Want to learn what the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol is all about? Open to ages 14-17, the lifeguards in training program will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from July 22-Aug. 7. The program will introduce basic lifesaving skills and rescue techniques as an educational and physical training foundation for prospective beach patrol employees. Beach patrol instructors will apply principles of surf bashing, swimming, running, paddling, and ocean rowing to techniques of water rescue and beach management appropriate to age and developing skill.

The Beach Bards Poetry and Prose Reading Series presents both emerging and established poets and writers at the Sea Isle City Library branch. Poets will perform readings from their original works, followed by an open mic. The event is free and open to the public.

Our Perfect Storm: A History of the March 1962 Storm that Devastated Sea Isle City

Presented by the Sea Isle City Historical Museum, this event will offer a discussion led by Dr. Joseph A. LaRosa Jr., the author of two books on the catastrophe: “Our Perfect Storm: A History of the March 1962 Storm that Devastated Sea Isle City,” and “Storm Stories,” a collection of oral histories from survivors. Survivors will also relate their personal stories and assist with the presentation.

Shore Softball Classic

Heyday Athletic will host its annual Shore Softball Classic at Dealy Field. The format will include 10-vs.-10 coed games, with a cost of $375 per team. There will be prizes for the winning team, including long-sleeved championship shirts and a Heyday trophy.

Phillies Youth Home Run Derby

This free batting competition is open to boys and girls, ages 7-12, who will swing at balls thrown from an automatic pitching machine, as they compete for prizes by gender in four age groups. Prizes for most participants, and the first-, second-, and third-place finishers in each age group advance to regional finals. Register the day of the event starting at 9am.
