Yacht Club Sailing Camp Open to Public

Nothing is needed more right now than the warm weather, and a day spent on the bay with friends. The Yacht Club of Sea Isle City started a tradition of sailing with friends and family in 1940. And now in 2020 the club comes to the rescue with sailing instruction for all. That’s right – this private club opens its instructional sailing program to the public!

Campers ages 8 and up learn to safely catch the wind and cruise the back bays while gaining lifelong friendships and enjoying a day in the sun. Skill levels go from beginner to advanced with certified instructors and fun activities for a variety of ages. Beginners will learn the basics starting with rigging and tacking, and safe sailing practices. Intermediate and advanced levels continue with lessons including the opportunity to sail a Sunfish, OPTI, Laser and 420. In addition, campers will practice racing techniques and participate in weekly competitions with area clubs.

The camp is held from June 15 to Aug. 14 with camp sessions on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am to noon (beginners) and 1-4pm (intermedia and advanced). Participants of this fun and unique camp return year after year with a promise of friendship and fun plus the much-needed day on the water. Space is limited, so be sure to register before these classes fill up! To register and for more information, go to ycsic.com.
