Beachy Keen was the place to be this May as readers gathered to celebrate the launch of a new novel set in Sea Isle City.
The exciting event brought together book lovers, locals, and visitors eager to meet the author and celebrate a story inspired by the shore community they know and love.

Readers gathered at Beachy Keen on Saturday, May 16 to celebrate the launch of “My Summer Bucket List,” the newest beach-read novel by Kimberly Brighton. The event featured book signings, giveaways, and conversation with the author from 10am to 1pm. Guests had the opportunity to meet Brighton and participate in an engaging Q&A session about the inspiration behind the novel and her writing process.
“It means the world to me that Beachy Keen would not only choose to carry my beach reads but play such an important role in the launch of my latest two books,” says Brighton. Last summer, we launched Cape May Christmas in July and on May 16 we launched my fifth beach read, which is not only set in Sea Isle City, but many scenes take place in actual businesses and landmarks on the island.”
Attendees shared excitement about reading a story inspired by familiar Sea Isle landmarks and beach-town experiences, with many eager to dive into Brighton’s latest coastal romance.
“Our relationship with author Kimberly Brighton started over a sample book with a Post-it Note asking if we would like to sell her book,” says Chris Sorenson, owner of Beachy Keen. “The timing was perfect since we were just ready to start our beach reads section in the store. Well, three signings and a book launch later have brought us to this special launch of her new book that is set in Sea Isle. It is so exciting and we feel honored to have Kim in our store. Spoiler alert, you will be seeing her again.”
Set in Sea Isle City, “My Summer Bucket List” follows Kacie Layne, a sharp-witted divorce attorney who heads to the Jersey Shore after her personal and professional lives fall apart. Determined to focus on herself and avoid romance altogether, Kacie creates a summer bucket list meant to help her start over. But her plans quickly unravel when she finds herself caught between her longtime crush and a charming lifeguard who unexpectedly sweeps her off her feet. Filled with humor, romance, and plenty of shore-town charm, the novel explores second chances, self-discovery, and the possibility of love when it’s least expected.
