Thoughts, Memories & Ravings of Big Daddy Graham: Quizzo for Social Distancing

It is June 4 and between the COVID-19 pandemic and all the rioting in the streets, it just might be the saddest week of my lifetime. And I lived through 9/11, and the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr. and the Kennedy brothers. John Lennon was a tough night, also.

To start with, I missed my first Memorial Day weekend at the shore in 50 years. Fifty years! It was so painful. My nutty daughter Ava took over the house with a pile of friends, so I at least know somebody was down here.

My house. Let’s talk about my house. It’s a 900-square-foot ranch house that somehow holds three intensely small bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and dining-room area. Now, these giant side-by-sides have marched into town like some Prussian army. But, man, do I have a spectacular deck. It seats 20 comfortably and it’s completely hidden from the world by the shrubbery. People walking by don’t even know it’s there, and oh boy, the conversations that I have heard over the years ...

One day it’ll be the only rancher left on this island and when that happens, I’m going to turn it into a museum. People will drive hundreds of miles just to see it. I’ll charge admission and then get really wealthy when an architect copies the floor plan of my house, and soon millions of ranch homes will pop up all over the country. As my old man used to say, “I’ll be laughing all the way to the bank.”

Sad to say, I am not sure when O’Donnell’s Pour House is going to open for indoor seating, therefore I am not sure when my Quizzo nights are going to start this summer. So, since most of us are camped out in our homes (hence the description of mine), I am going to bring my Quizzo questions to you.

Here is how it’s going to work. You can do it the old-fashioned way and fill these questions out right here on this piece of paper and stash it somewhere till you receive the answers in next month’s issue. Or you can email me your answers and win really cool prizes. I know many of you are just going to look up the answers on your phone, but what’s the fun in that? As you will see, there are some questions you can’t look up, Mr. Smartypants.

1. What was the name of Shenanigans right before it was named Shenanigans?

2. Who has played the most games in a Sixers uniform?

A. Allen Iverson

B. Julius Erving

C. Mo Cheeks

D. Thunder Bob Thornton

3. True or False: A just-turned 20-year-old Big Daddy Graham was once arrested in Sea Isle for driving in the nude.

4. What is the exit number off the Garden State Parkway for Sea Isle City?

5. This gorgeous, pregnant young woman, Gretchen, bartended my Quizzo nights back in 2018. How much did she weigh right before she gave birth to her beautiful baby boy, Zach? Guess within 3 pounds and you get the point. She’s 5-foot-10.

6. What was the name of this really cool eatery that was catty-corner to Busch’s?

This next question has four answers.

You are going to use 7, 8, 9 and 10 in answering it. Here’s what you’re going to do. I asked my listeners at 94WIP what their favorite Leonardo DiCaprio movie was. No animation and you don’t have to put them in order. Have fun!

Hopefully, I’ll be back at O’Donnell’s mid-July or so. Keep your fingers crossed. Plus, I am about to start an online Quizzo, so you should all follow me at Twitter and Facebook @bigdaddygraham.com. Or send me an email at bigdaddy295@aol.com. Yeah, I know you’re all laughing. Who has an AOL account these days? I do!
