Sea Isle City’s restaurant scene continues to grow and change each year. A new spot has been brought to Landis Avenue by the owners of Cafe 4109. As its first summer comes to a close, take the time to learn about the story behind Surf Shack Kitchen and what it has brought to the Sea Isle City community.

Sea Isle City has welcomed Surf Shack Kitchen to its dining scene this summer. Built on fresh ingredients, big flavors, and good vibes, owners Shawn Rossetti and Sam Barile celebrated its grand opening on June 16.

Conveniently located on Landis Avenue, Surf Shack Kitchen has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors seeking coastal comfort food. Rossetti and Barile knew that when the space became available, they couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

“We wanted to open another place, and when 4203 became available, we knew we had to do it!” Rossetti and Barile also own Cafe 4109 a block away, where they have been serving the Sea Isle City community for three summers. Through combining their unique backgrounds and expertise, the two close friends brought the Surf Shack Kitchen concept to life.

The diverse menu offers something for everyone, featuring everything from waffles, omelettes, and breakfast sandwiches to chicken tenders, burgers, and plenty of gluten-free options.

Bringing the menu to life, Barile draws on decades of culinary experience. He began his career waiting tables at the Tuckahoe Inn in Beesleys Point before cooking and creating his own dishes at Maynard’s Cafe in Longport, and later opening JW’s Restaurant in Absecon. Barile has built a following with signature dishes like his famous Shrimp ’n Grits, which is now also on the Surf Shack Kitchen menu.

“Sam’s menu speaks for itself, offering some of the most epic creations in Sea Isle,” says Rossetti. “You won’t find another menu like it.”

Meanwhile, Rossetti started his career as a mason journeyman and later opened Rossetti Home Improvements, which has been in business for more than 15 years. His passion for food grew after opening the former Pino’s Grille & Trattoria in Ocean City, ultimately leading him to pitch Barile the idea of Cafe 4109 and now to open Surf Shack Kitchen with him.

Surf Shack Kitchen is open from 7am-3pm Sunday through Wednesday and 7am-8pm Thursday through Saturday.
