Days Gone By

A pretty cool image captured from a 1956 promotional film about New Jersey produced by the New Jersey Bell Telephone Company. In this segment, shot on the Inland Waterway behind the island, we see two vessels headed back to Fish Alley after a day at sea. The boat leading (green/white hull) is the ALFHLD. The second boat (white hull) is The Dewey. As many of you know, The Dewey was a staple of the Monichetti/Mike’s Seafood family for many years and it was a familiar sight to see it unloading its daily catches at Mike’s Seafood. You can also see the old SIC drawbridge open in the distance.
