KEHNERS CELEBRATE THEIR 40TH

Bill and Cheryl Kehner, of Sea Isle City, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary at the Commodore Club with a small group of friends. Bill and Cheryl met 41 years ago on June 8 at the Springfield Inn, which is now known as The Point. Bill and Cheryl have “gotten married” three times in Sea Isle City because the town is very special to them. They were married May 30, 1981 in the original city council chambers at the former Sea Isle City Public Safety building. Their marriage was blessed on May 30, 1987 at St. Joseph Church, and renewed their vows again in May 2016 in the new City Hall. They have two sons, Eddie and Billy. Most of Bill and Cheryl’s life together has been centered around family, church, and work. Bill, a retired roadway maintenance worker for the Garden State Parkway, is a member of the city council. Cheryl is a Republican committeewoman as well as the author of “Hello Sea Isle City.” During their down time, Bill likes doing crossword puzzles and Cheryl enjoys reading. Bill and Cheryl have made many memories in Sea Isle City and they hope to continue doing so for many years to come.

CHAMBER PRESENTS SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

The Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce and Revitalization presented its 2021 scholarship awards to graduating seniors Matthew Moretti, Luka Grdinich, and Grace Wiley on June 7 with a drive-by parade and presentation at each of the recipients’ homes.

Chamber president Brian Heritage was joined by SICCCR board members Lisa Iannone, John Fee, and Liz Pane to present the yard signs, flowers, and balloons to each recipient. Each of the three recipients is a Sea Isle City resident and upon completion of their first semester will receive a $500 scholarship.

Moretti graduated from Wildwood Catholic Academy, Grdinich from St. Augustine Preparatory School, and Wiley from Ocean City High School. Moretti is bound for Coastal Carolina University, Grdinich will attend Xavier University, and Wiley will head to the University of Delaware.

Initiated by the chamber more than 20 years ago, the scholarship program was developed in hopes of encouraging graduating high school seniors to attend college and eventually return to Sea Isle City and bring new life and revitalization to the town.
