LEMON-AID FOR A GOOD CAUSE

“Would you like your lemonade with or without ice, Mr. Mayor?” That’s the question that 8-year-old Cosette Symons and her 6-year-old brother Ryder had for Len Desiderio on Aug. 12, while Sea Isle City Fire Chief Bryan Moran looks on. If you were wondering what all the fuss was at 68th Street and Landis Avenue, it was the Symons kids selling lemonade with all proceeds going to Sea Isle City Volunteer Fire Department, a grand total of $1000. The Symons children also sold lemonade for a cause last year, raising $600 to benefit three members of the Sea Isle City Police Department who were hospitalized after responding to a domestic disturbance call.

AYE, AYE, CAPTAIN BILL

The namesake of the Captain Bill Gallagher 10-Mile Island Run officially starts the 52nd annual race on Aug. 5 from the balcony of the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol headquarters on 44th Street. Below, Captain Bill (fourth from left) gathers with his family for the event that has become a summer tradition.

UGH! A BIG SWING AND A MISS

The 2023 Sea Isle City Wiffle Classic was held Aug. 12 at Dealy Field for the lucky teams that were able to register for the popular event. The officially sanctioned tournament filled quickly and needed a waiting list to accommodate all those interested. The tournament benefited Autism Speaks.

TERRUSO FAMILY CELEBRATES ANNIVERSARY IN HAWAII

Susan and James Terruso celebrated their 45th anniversary with their family of 15 on the Hawaiian island of Oahu at Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa in Ko Olina. Their children arranged to have a professional photographer take a family photo and they had an amazing dinner at ‘AMA‘AMA with a spectacular view of the beach. They enjoyed many excursions on their trip including one to Kuoloa Ranch, where “Lost” and “Jurassic Park” were filmed. Of course, breakfast with Mickey and Minnie was something they couldn’t resist!
